Twitto ergo sum

One of my best friends recently told me that his brother told him ' if you don't tweet , you don't exist.'

Since I know my friend & his brother quite well (both of them are very interesting people, much loved and respected by their human -as oppose to virtual- friends with lots of hobbies and very successful careers), it got me thinking. After 400+ years Descartes said ' Cogito ergo sum - I think therefore I am' , it's not anymore enough to think, we want our ideas to be known - and accepted, even appreciated - by people we don't even care to know. In fact, thinking alone was never enough; people are writing books, articles, songs etc for a very long time just to be heard.

And what do I do with my ideas ? I talk about them, mostly to my wonderful husband who is on the listening end of my ramblings for the better part of two decades. So, both from out of respect to his mental well being and his repeated pleas about me starting my own blog, I decided to follow his advice and write - and tweet ! - about what I read , see , hear and think. Now the poor guy have to listen to AND read about my wonderfully illuminating ideas, but that's what he asked. No ?

Which brings me to a small book I recently finished named ' Plato & Platypus walk into a bar...'. The co-writers Thomas Cathcart & Daniel Klein did a great job on explaining philosophy through jokes. It start with the age-old questions like who am I ? why am I here ? and goes all the way to modern day philosophers without being repetitive or boring even for a second. In fact, most of the time you'll find yourself chuckling uncontrollably while reading about Kant or Nietzsche.
Quoting from the book will make you sound clever & funny at the same time, so what's not to like ?

Enjoy,
